Do You Qualify? These are not barriers. They are the foundation of a journey done right, for you, for the intended parents, and for the child. We take surrogate qualifications seriously. Not because we want to exclude people, but because surrogacy is a profound medical and legal commitment, and setting the right foundation from the beginning protects everyone involved. Every requirement on this page exists for a reason. And every reason comes back to the same thing: making sure that when you step into this journey, you are truly ready for it.

AGE Between 21 and 40 Years of Age

Surrogates must be between 21 and 40 years of age at the time of application. This range reflects both the medical standards upheld by our clinic partners and our commitment to surrogate health and safety throughout the journey.

PREGNANCY & OBSTETRIC HISTORY You Have Done This Before. Successfully.

You must have had at least one successful pregnancy and delivery with no major complications. You are currently parenting at least one child living with you at home. This requirement is not about judgment, it is about experience. Surrogacy introduces enough variables on its own. We want every surrogate to know what pregnancy feels like for her body before she carries for someone else. Prior C-sections are evaluated on a case by case basis depending on the number and your overall obstetric history. Your coordinator will discuss your specific situation with you directly.

PHYSICAL HEALTH In Good Overall Health.

Surrogates must meet the following general health criteria:
  • Non-smoker and free from recreational drug use
  • No use of medications that would affect pregnancy eligibility, reviewed during medical pre-screening
  • BMI within the range required by our clinic partners, typically between 19 and 32, specific requirements may vary by clinic
  • No history of significant pregnancy complications in prior pregnancies
  • Willing to abstain from alcohol and any substances throughout the pregnancy
Your full medical history will be reviewed during the pre-screening process. If there are specific health considerations in your background, your coordinator will walk through them with you honestly.

MENTAL HEALTH Emotionally Ready. Genuinely Supported.

All surrogates are required to complete a psychological evaluation with a licensed mental health professional experienced in third-party reproduction. This evaluation is a supported process designed to make sure you are emotionally prepared for the journey ahead. We also look for:
  • No history of significant untreated mental health conditions
  • A strong, stable personal support system
  • No current use of psychiatric medications that would affect pregnancy eligibility

LIFESTYLE & STABILITY Grounded. Supported. Ready.

We look for surrogates who are in a stable place in their lives, not because perfection is required, but because this journey asks a lot of you. Specifically:
  • Financially stable and not currently receiving government assistance programs
  • Non-smoker and living in a non-smoking household
  • If you have a partner or spouse, they must be fully supportive of your decision and willing to participate in the evaluation process
  • A strong personal support network who will be present for you throughout the journey

LEGAL ELIGIBILITY Legal Resident or Citizen. Background Cleared.

All surrogates must be legal residents or citizens of the country in which they are applying, the United States or Mexico depending on the program. A comprehensive background check is required for all surrogates and all adult members of their household. This is standard, mandatory, and applies to every surrogate we work with.
